Wierd workaholic-type problem?

Aight, personally I’m a workaholic 19 year old who has never been in any girl-friend type relationship whatsoever and virtually has no meaningful friends (just a TON of acquaintances). Otherwise, I’m basically devoted to my pre-med work.

My question is that why do I continuously get nervous whenever I have work to be done (getting a test back, about to take a test, about to give a presentation), yet I rarely ever do badly on them? I have taken tests for years, and I always get high marks, but every time I get work back I still feel as if I’m going to fail. Whats worse is that I vividly remember every bad grade I’ve ever gotten in the past 6 years. I feel this problem is hampering everything else thats wrong with me (avoidant personality, etc.), as I am constantly nervous about my work. As a result, I can’t afford to change myself as I fear focusing more on anything else will just make the problem worse.

Well… if it is something that you usually do, and do a good job… you should feel less nervousness… if it is something you rarely do, and don’t hav much confidence in yourself, you will be more nervos than a guy under a falling boulder. (just a stupid metaphor i quickly made up, haha) I would try to go out and gain some friends (possibly even girls…) and have some fun… you can work when you want, but a social life is just as important. So go out, have fun, work when you want, not too much tho… have fun… hope i answered your question… :)

You could be a perfectionist in your chosen field ? This could lead to a traumatic let down if at any time a big failure dose happen to you and you are not able to take that as a major life lesson ? Remember when you wind a rubber band to thigh it will snap ? So learn to loosen up as you are learning to be a Doctor ?

Many of us feel like this. Don’t worry it’s quite normal.. Everybody undergoes some anxiety with exams and presentations at various levels and degrees, no matter how experienced one is. Don;t get too worked up about this. Eventually you do get high marks as you say, don’t you?
