Future Workaholic?

I’m worried about becoming a workaholic. I’m still in school, but it’s bugging me. I find pleasure only in doing homework and, well, working. Now that it’s summer, I’m killing myself because I have no homework to do. My schedual is usually packed ,and now that it’s not I feel so unaccomplished. I’m a perfectionist too, so that just makes everything worse. I feel I have to succeed at everything; if I don’t , I would feel like I’m letting myself down. I love my friends and family, but I’m always making excuses not to spend time with them. When I am with my friends, all I can think about is that assignment that’s due next week or a subject I’m not doing well in. No matter what I do I can’t get these thoughts away from my mind. Excercising works well until I stop. I feel like I can’t talk to anyone about this. My friends don’t take me seriously when I bring it up. Am I just paranoid? What can I do?

sounds like you might have some anxiety..

I would suggest telling your parents..or go talk to a school counselor..just cause school is out doesnt mean they aren’t there..there are medications and relaxationi techniques that can reduce anxiety..

Relax..take a vacation..enjoy your youth and the summer!
