workaholic
Jacques asked:

I don’t know but I think I might be a workaholic. I work whenever I get the chance. Whenever extra hours are posted, I’m always more than willing to take them.

Well, let’s start from the begninning. I’m 17 and I’m working at my first job. I absolutely love it more than anything else in the world. And I’m being serious here. I love coming in to work and I hate leaving. Since it’s my first job, earning 10.58/hr is so great compared to my friends who’re making minimum wage. I never had much money as a kid so getting about $200 a week makes me almost jump in excitement. I barely got $10 a week from my parents. They might buy me clothes but maybe only once a month and only a few things. Of course, gas and car insurance was all paid for. But now I’m getting roughly $200 and I’m loving this financial freedom!

The work I do is great too. It’s simple yet challenging. I love challenging work because its so fullfilling. It makes me feel so good at the end of the day. On top of that, all my co-workers are so friendly and my supervisors are very compassionate. I work at a hospital FYI. I love the fact that I am helping people. I feel like I’m the only one there who truly loves the work I do. I know it’s great and all, but I don’t know if I should be doing these things.

My grades are great but I’m basically throwing away my social life. As a senior in high school, I decided not to go to prom and to my senior picnic so I could go to work instead. But I don’t know if I should be doing this. I mean, I don’t think I’m missing anything. I love my money and my job, but I don’t know if I’m throwing my life away? I’m still social. I talk to my friends at school and my co-workers at work. I just love going to work.

Am I a workaholic?
Also, I’ve been working there for a few days shy of a month. I don’t know if that helps any.
